Quantum Day
April 14 marks World Quantum Day, an initiative launched by the global network of researchers “World Quantum Day” to promote public understanding of quantum science and technology.
To celebrate this occasion, the Slovenian Community for Quantum Science and Technology QUTES and the Jožef Stefan Institute are organizing a series of events.
You are warmly invited to join us!
@WorldQuantumDay #WorldQuantumDay
The year 2025 has been designated as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ2025). Throughout the year, numerous events will be held across Slovenia to promote quantum science and technology among both the scientific community and the general public.
During the week of World Quantum Day (April 14), the following events will take place:
JSI Colloquia
April 8, 2025 at 13:00, Main lecture hall of Jožef Stefan Institute, Jamova cesta 39 in Ljubljana
The quantum way of doing computations, simulations and measurements
Prof. dr. Rainer Blatt, University of Innsbruck, Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, and Alpine Quantum Technologies (AQT) GmbH, Innsbruck, Austria
—
April 16, 2025 at 14:00, Main lecture hall of Jožef Stefan Institute, Jamova cesta 39 in Ljubljana
The quest for physics beyond the standard model: facts, fancies and opinions
Prof. Dr. Raymond R. Volkas, The University of Melbourne, Australia
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WORKSHOP
April 14, 2025, 10:30–15:30, Jožef Stefan Institute
This workshop will introduce the basics of quantum physics. Students will visit laboratories where quantum phenomena are studied and quantum devices are developed. They will also get hands-on experience assembling optical devices.
Final-year high school students interested in physics are invited to participate. Priority will be given to third-year students.
PERFORMANCE OF THE EXPERIMENT: Public demonstration of quantum entanglement
April 16 2025, 10.30–13.30, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics Library, Jadranska 21, Ljubljana
QUANTUM DAY AT JSI AND VAL 202
April 16 2025, 10.30–13.30, Jožef Stefan Institute
Get Involved!
We invite you to celebrate World Quantum Day by organizing your own events and raising awareness about quantum science and technology. Here are some ideas:
LIBRARIES: Set up a display of books on quantum technologies.
SCHOOLS: Dedicate time to teaching students about quantum technologies and encourage discussions and projects on how these technologies shape everyday life.
UNIVERSITIES: Share information about career opportunities in quantum technologies and encourage students to attend related events.
RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS: Join the QUTES community and create posters showcasing your quantum technology research activities.
COMPANIES: Send representatives to our events and explore collaboration opportunities in quantum technology.
SCIENCE COMMUNICATORS: Publish articles and content on quantum technologies to spread awareness.
